It was a challenging spring, as the pile kept getting bigger, I had to do some culling and kill some darlings. Here are the biggest doors I am closing, followed by some exciting news!

My Office
After a fantastic 6 months, I left my office space at Embassy House to work from home for a few months, before deciding where to settle my shop next. Partly to minimise overheads, partly to just make a change. I wish them the best of luck in opening their new place in the city!

Talking about office spaces and co-working places, here is a great piece on how open-plans are not the way forward:
• The open-plan office is a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad idea

Hyper Island
After an amazing 3 years, I left my part-time employment as MA Programme Manager at Hyper Island. I am still, however, collaborating as learning designer, workshop leader, speaker, and course designer.

Design Sweden
After a very rewarding 3+ years on the board, I am in the process of leaving Design Sweden. I am very excited about its future with the new board (TBA), and I will forever be an ambassador for design.

Group of Humans
Studio Theolin is joining the Group of Humans network. It's not often you come across a group of people you immediately feel connected to as they are really trying to make a difference in a progressive and innovative way. In particular, helping brands build ethics into design. As their first Stockholm-based Creative Human, I am hoping a lot of fun projects with be initiated!

Your agency is a cassette. This is streaming.
We are a distributed curated network of the best designers, strategists, technologists, and creatives in the world, all of whom share a belief that technology should be harnessed not for efficiency but for the benefit of people, society and the environment.

We don’t pitch because pitches are a waste of your time and our money’.

"Group of Humans is founded on an awareness that we are all connected. It is a belief that in coming together we can create a kinder, happier and more productive world. To do this, companies need to point their technology investments at much more humanised services and tools that bring communities together, tap diverse and distributed talent, and contribute to a future that’s fit for human habitation." – read the full article A human point of view by GoH on Medium.

SEPTEMBER 6-7 Keynote @ Graphic Design Educators Network, Newcastle Invited by Graphic Design Educators Network to do a talk at their W**chcraft Conference in Newcastle. By definition, craft describes both the act of making things by hand and the art of persuasion. This double meaning resonates with the discipline of Graphic Design as so much of our practice is wrapped up in how and why we create communication. New technology has certainly increased our craft and influence, often beguiling our users. However, its dark art also questions our magician’s status as artificial intelligence generates increasingly persuasive autonomous design. By contrast, the ubiquity of technology-driven solutions has also created a greater appetite for bespoke design crafted by the human hand. Therefore as our field of expertise continues to evolve – fusing, multiplying, specialising – and the mystery and power of its application grows, deciding what to learn and how to study it is a prevalent question for both aspiring and established designers and educators. From designer-makers to digital strategists let us share, explore and debate the w**chcraft that is fundamental to the practice and education of contemporary graphic design. W**chcraft features keynote talks from Jenny Theolin ( StudioTheolin ), Dr. Joanna Choukeir , (Uscreates), Dr Catherine Dixon (CSM) and workshop facilitated by: BANK™ Associates . Alongside over 30 papers, discussions and workshops.
