FEATURE: Introducing Rebellious Role Model 10: Jenny Theolin!

Was honoured to do a Q&A as a ‘Rebellious Role Model’ for career counselor Mikaela Aare's Rebel Wonderland Community.

What is your story / How did you get to where you are today?

My story began with a move to Tokyo when I was one month old. I have experienced and lived in 7 countries with very different cultures, worked with design for almost 20 years, and with learning for ten years. After my first career in graphic design and art direction, I learned to change direction very quickly due to becoming sick at work (work-related upper limb disorder), and since then I have been incredibly devoted to happiness and joy at work. Therefore, I work with learning and development to create a better workplace and environment for my clients and their employees.

How do you stay motivated through challenging times?

By creating! Sometimes I long to be a little bored, because then I know something magical will happen. I also usually write Done Lists on Fridays to easily see and reflect on what I have accomplished, instead of listing what is to come. Third thing is to revisit relationships/collaborators/projects that have made me proud and happy. Whether it's saying hello to someone, or watching a case film.

What is the best piece of advice you have been given?

"Always be a Queen of Disobedience" my father said when he gave a speech to my class at university. I was, am and always will be a rebel! Jokes aside, to always remember what I do is unique, because I am me, and the way I do things is my way. How I have gained my knowledge and skills no one else has. It is therefore good to reflect on your own origin story and what makes you who you are.
